The
Stud as it exists today has been the breeding ground for the English Welsh
Cob since 1967, when Ewald and Milos Welde imported the first horses from
England.
Anyone looking for an adaptable and steadfast horse with staying power would
be well advised to contact Milos Welde, the only established breeder of
this type of horse in Austria and multiple Austrian National Champion. The
Welsh Cob's excellent action makes it a tempting dressage horse, its steadfastness
and ability to jump an ideal horse for carriage driving, and its big heart
make it the perfect horse for the whole family.
During the Middle Ages the Welsh Cobs proved their excellent character and
endurance. Not for nothing were they the horses of the Cavaliers who brought
them from their original homeland Spain to England. The horses were mainly
found in Wales when - after the Second World War - they were rediscovered
by Pauline Taylor and she began to rejuvenate the breed.
The stallion Llanath Bryant, which was bred by Pauline Taylor, became one
of the foundation sires of the new Welsh Cob line, so that today every fine
Welsh Cob can probably claim to have Bryant in his line of ancestors.
