35 years ago, the Welde brothers started
a collection of historic carriages.
The idea behind this was always to not only preserve these carriages as
museum pieces, but also to present them at shows and Concours d'Elegance,
thereby demonstrating the traditions of carriage driving in all its elegance
and sporting appeal. In the many years since the founding of Gschwendthof,
suitable single- and double-harnesses were acquired, partly from English
friends, and partly from traditional harness-makers, as well as historical
lanterns, whips and other accessories.
Nowadays the Welde collection of more than 50 carriages dates from 1860
to the present day.
